To add something to the “what do we call posts” convo: I think the correct name is something commoditized that has nothing to do with bluesky as a brand. In that sense, “post” is “more right” than skoot, drop, etc

I agree. “Posts” are simple and brand-agnostic. Nostr call them Events but I think that refers more to the underlying protocol, rather than the content. People will likely call short-form posts “tweets” given that that terminology is pretty established.

Tweets were a new communication primitive, distinct from a “post” which doesn’t communicate the constrained length or interaction model. We now understand these objects and want to make them a primitive data type of the web, but were stuck w the branding

BlueSky keeps social simple. The simplest days in social were the best for most of us. We look at them fondly and remember what social used to be. Since then, commercialization and brands have overrun other platforms. No need to be something we’re not 🔵💙
