Went to a neat little new age store today, I wanted to check out some tarot decks but ended up not liking any they had and bought a little amethyst and a chalcopyrite instead. I'm sure they're supposed to have magical properties but I forget what the signs said. They're magical property is: pretty.
My desire to collect more tarot decks is being stymied by the fact I have standards not just for the art but how appropriate I think the symbolism is in the example cards. Alas.
I wonder how different they are in new age shops, but in the book store I work at so many of the tarot decks are just like "let's make tarot based on every single pop culture thing" many are quite ugly, and not in a charming way
My lizard brain struggles to resist the sparkly rocks every time I set foot in those shops. So far I've managed to limit myself to a pyrite cube, a meteor, and some fossils but the colorful ones call my name...
Amethyst is supposed to cure/ward off drunkenness, which is why it's in a lot of clerical rings in the Catholic church.
that is the most important magical property
