Shrek Twinkies (2004, 2010): A promotional tie-in for both "Shrek 2" and "Shrek Forever After", these snack cakes were classic Twinkies--golden spongecake with vanilla creme--except the creme was now "ogre green." You know...for Shrek.

A yellow sponge cake, cut in the middle to reveal green creme in the center. Shrek smiles in the background
A yellow spongecake with the end cut off to reveal green creme. On the right side, Shrek balls up his fist and leers menacingly at us
Shrek laughs with his hands on his hips in front of an abstract orange background. A yellow spongecake is split in half in front of him, revealing green creme. In the bottom corner is a picture of the DVD cover for Shrek 2

so they skipped 3, or was there a different hostess tie-in for that one?

I remember these. Never tried them because I've never been a big fan of Twinkies. (I always thought the Shrek food tie-ins were gross anyway.)

Now I am reminded of the hostess ninja turtles pie.

One special edition (ghostbusters?) had lime filling, which was amazing.

I don't want to think about Shrek and cream-filled anything. 😭
