Meme aside... A lot of Enterprise's flak came from audience Trek Exhaustion of 20 years of constant stories on TV, being forced to carry UPN as a network, and the unenviable task of shoehorning the series into that nebulous area in canon before TOS while introducing new species.

I will say in hindsight & given how...timid SNW feels at times, I respect their decision to bring in new alien species, even if that should've happened closer to the end of the show's run after getting TOS memberberries outta the way
