When I gripe about academic pay, people say things like: "Well, leave then." OR "You chose that." BUT
(a) I chose the profession, not the pay. If I could do the same work for more money, I would. (b) If everyone left academia to go to better paid jobs, there would be no higher ed.
This hits so close to home. Love that you know your value even if others question
Why are all jobs aside from the evil ones paying less and less? The deal is we contribute to society and then we get to live in it. That’s how we were promised it worked.
