I'm not so sure. Each new variant causes a new spike in infection rates (not 2020/21 levels, but still) and people are getting repeat infections now that most of the precautions have gone. Some studies suggest repeat infections lead to a higher chance of long covid.

Speaking as someone with long covid, I would not wish it on anyone. It has turned my entire life upside down and I am genuinely concerned about what will happen to me if I can't hold on to my job.
