4th of July observation from an immigrant: The contrast between the promise of the US and its practice has always been partly what has made the country compelling, especially to outsiders. If you only see one, and not the other, you are missing something important.

As an immigrant I can agree. The best Constitution, the worst interpretation of it and not just the second Amendment.
The American Dream and the American Reality. I'm so thrilled by everyone who comes to the U.S. and makes our country better. We should always be working toward making the dream a reality for everyone.
💯 The founders wanted "a more perfect union," not immediate perfection. We're still working on it, and that's what makes the US great.
