for real though i've witnessed some clashes/have had a couple of people be... unkind about this, and i kind of need the "alt text 100% of the time or you're ableist" crowd to re-examine their positions just... a smidge. 🫠 doesn't feel super inclusive to hear "don't post if you're low on spoons"

if twitter can do community notes surely we could crowdsource alt text right??

"if some people can't read it, no one gets to read it" seems like a strange way to approach accessibility for random people's posts too

😔 Gods fuckin fr. Alienating people and making them feel like shit for not using alt text isnt it. Like yes, its nice to encourage it but there's a huge difference between that and what I see some people doing.

I have seen ppl be so UNHINGED about this topic and its like: yeah, it's super "inclusive" to scream ableist at strangers on the web over alt texts 🙄 At the end of the day its the choice of the artist & I don't think you even have to justify your reasons why you do or don't add it. 1/2

when i first started out on bluesky i had no idea what alt text was, but ppl were so nice and helpful about it that i got into the habit of adding it and enjoying doing so. the vast majority of ppl i've seen being unkind about it are ppl who don't need it and it gives me distasteful feelings lol

I have also been called ableist vor not writing Alt Text and to be honest...I rather not give AI scalpers a handy dandy image description to teach their AI. And at the end of the day it's bullying to conformity and somehow everybody is ok with that.

I'm horrible with descriptives in english specially because haircuts, outfit pieces, acessories and specially body and face expressions can't always be a 1 to 1 translation so sometimes it just frustrates me out of being able to alt text 🙃 i wish ppl could submit these and u just approve one

100%. This literally got me an anxiety attack after reading a ton of unkind posts about this and I didn't want to receive the hate directly tbh, I can't take it. Adding alt sometimes is easy af but sometimes it just makes posting like x10 harder for me and I end up not posting at all 🫠

The spoons are HUGE for me >_< I've kinda come down to "I'll put something, but it might not be good" b/c I don't like being yelled at >_<
