That’s authoritarianism: It identifies a small segment of society as a menace from which the other 99% must be protected, and then gradually expands the definitional boundaries of that group to include any one else who opposes, questions, besmirches, or embarrasses those in power.

When well-meaning folks say, fascism could come here, or authoritarianism might arrive. It’s already been steamrolling (in parts of the country) for at least a decade now.
