people mock romantasy and i certainly am no exception but i do feel oddly strongly as a straight man that my fellow straight men should consider trying to write a fantasy novel that depicts a relationship with a woman that isnt wildly fetishistic or downright weird towards women as such like once

Yeah, I mean... It's normal to use sexualization in this type of things but sometimes it feels so disgusting, and I'm a anime fan I know how disgusting things can be. Sometimes we thing sexualization is bad but it's not, it's just bad writing that makes it bad.

Do healthy relationships count as a fetish? I kind of feel like it counts as a fetish at times.

while he's not primarily a romantasy author, Brandon Sanderson seems to be fairly decent at writing genuine love stories? My favorite of which is Tress of the Emerald Sea which is very much Princess Bride if Buttercup did something

Or maybe writing a female view point that wasn't half about oggling men.

What about Jasper Fforde, Adrian Tchaikovsky or Sanderson?

I tend prefer romance in my fantasy as more of a side-dish more often than not, but I'm still a sucker for well-written relationships. Sure, who doesn't love a bold, hunky hero. But I want to see more emotionally vulnerable male characters in healthy, non-fetishized relationships too!

but that's still a value judgment. let's put on the breaks. wy wre we using those words as negatives? that's opinion, not fact, and i think that's a shared automatic thought patten and congitive distortion on society's part. it's a biased judge that assumes the fiction is evil. harmful
