Looking forward to a couple of productive days at National Science Foundation in Washington DC. Thanks to the Mid-Career Advancement Awards program for this opportunity.
🌎🧪 Too busy to post recently, but...here is a shout out to Dr. Nathan Kiel, a new postdoc in my lab @ SUNY ESF, for a wonderfully engaging seminar on his dissertation research @ University of Wisconsin-Madison, on the role of changing fire regime on plant communities of the greater Yellowstone.
I enjoyed giving a talk today @ IUFRO World Forest Congress in Stockholm (#IUFRO2024) about our lab's research on climate-induced changes in forest plant communities along elevation gradients of the eastern US. Looking forward to hopefully come back to the next World Congress in five years in Kenya!
An excellent #IUFRO2024 field trip #10 on Conservation & Forestry in Practice @ IUFRO led by the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture & Forestry. We learned much about the contemporary issues & history of Swedish forestry. 🧪🌎
📜New paper accepted @ Ecological Monographs on mycorrhizal fungi 🍄 as critical filters for tree 🌳 seedling🌱establishment during species range expansions. Congrats to Jordon Tourville @ SUNY ESF, now @ Appalachian Mountain Club, on this last part of his PhD thesis❗️ The link to the PDF coming soon.
Excited to learn, network, & talk about my lab’s research @ IUFRO 2024 in Stockholm! If you are here & interested in forest dynamics & plant communities along elevation gradients come say hi or see my talk on Friday early morning.
👏 Big thanks the World Biodiversity Forum for a wonderful time in Davos. It was great to give a talk on monitoring climate & plants 🌱🌾 across montane temperate-boreal forest ecotones 🌳 🌲 in eastern US & to enjoy many excellent presentations & discussions. Looking forward to WBF 2026! 🧪🌍
🏕️ Awesome start of the field season surveying #plants#fungi🍄#microclimate#Whiteface Mountain of New York state by our team from SUNY ESF & Syracuse University Biology. Lots of great-looking plants in flower & fruiting fungi encountered already! 😀
🥇Congrats to Rachel Hopkins @SUNY ESF for receiving yet another award, 2024 Bill Dahl Graduate Student Research Award from the Botanical Society of America, to study how plant 🌾 🌺🌱 communities changed over the past 60 years on #Whiteface#Adirondacks as climate warmed. Well done Rachel👏🌍🧪
