Was the Opel Ampera actually popular in Europe? I saw like 4-5 of them over the course of two weeks there. I don't think we see Chevy Volts hardly at all in the states anymore. I was totally surprised! #weirdcar#weirdcars#weirdcartwitter

According to howmanyleft.co.uk there’s 1,145 of the Vauxhall counterparts registered in the UK. Personally I don’t think I’ve seen more than maybe 3 of them.

Very few for sale for sure is what I can say. Might just be my neck of the woods!

We are probably over sampled due to proximity to GM HQ, but we still see Volts say.... Eh weekly.

Weird fact: The only Ampera I’ve ever seen was in the US, at the Henry Ford museum near Detroit.

IIRC ampera production outpaced volts for a year or two, but it also seems like European modes of driving would suit the ampera more, that they’d still be getting used? I only see like one or two OG Volts a year, in my region where there’s a ton of 1st gen Priuses & Insights

Now that my youngest is away at school I daily a gen 2 Volt and see one or maybe two a day on my 45 mile round trip here in SE Pa. I halfheartedly once thought about rebadging it as an Opel.

I remember they missed out on a bunch of subsidies because the engine could directly drive the wheels so they were PHEVs instead of extended range electric vehicles
