I see we've reached the "famous artist credibly accused of sexual assault wasn't actually a great artist and you're a chump for liking him" phase. Consider that pretending terrible people can't make great art helps terrible people who make great art whedon their way into vulnerable communities.

people need to realise the person you need to be angry at is the artist, not the fans and the fans need to realise that no person is inviolate and everyone you worship is easily capable of the absolute vilest acts a human can performpeople need to realise the person you need to be angry at is the artist, not the fans and the fans need to realise that no person is inviolate and everyone you worship is easily capable of the absolute vilest acts a human can perform

It absolutely stinks when the victims were fans of the work. So they were chumps for believing the person behind their beloved work was worthy of being trusted? Their beloved work was actually bad? It does nothing to support the victims to pan previously lauded work

Yeah, there is a art I like from deplorable, problematic people, I make the choice to not support the person, but can still say it was great art and yes I did and still do like it. He is a POS, I never seen it coming, but I no longer support him. Ppl need to stop the moral Olympics.

Welp, seems like some of the most disingenuous people on Bluesky have decided that the above post was somehow a defense of random terrible dude who made pretty good art. This website has the sauce.

it's actually probably more solidly provable that good people are less capable of making (successful)great art because becoming successful often requires a poisoned soul and more often poisons them further

I've seen people I honestly expected better of doing this for the current accused. It's been disheartening.

This. And also, when disbelief is expressed as "But he's so talented/he's so funny/he writes so well" it should always be met with "Yes, and?"

It would be nice if this advice wouldn't keep being so relevant, but I definitely agree.

I’m hopeful that means we’re almost done with it flooding every feed. I believe the accusations; I’m also tired of hearing about it and it makes me sad.
