Yep. That logic means that there are few people left to keep things afloat. They are getting burned out and then resent the org.
This is key, esp. with 75% of the faculty off the TT. I believe that those of us lucky (and a lot of it is luck) enough to have TT positions have a responsibility to take on a lot of the service work (esp. the unglamorous work). Also, it can be too much.
