I can't say I'm super disappointed. A heavier ban wouldn't have fixed our crises with mental health, classroom behaviour and inattention. But like, where's the plan to address the current crises with mental health, classroom behaviour and inattention?

Province of Ontario rolls out new rules for mobile devices in schools. Expectation: outright ban on phones in younger kids and hard restrictions in high schoolers. Reality: kids in grade 6 will need to keep their phone on silent, older kids should follow teachers instructions.

Pro-tip for people with noisy EEG data: fancy ICA, re-referencing, baseline correction and artifact rejection will not fix bad data, it just makes it worse: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Many people enjoy trivia, but some people are way better at it than the rest of us. What is different about how their memory works? Our research (led by Monica Thieu, w/ Lauren Wilkins) characterizing the memories of trivia experts vs. non-experts is now out and featured in @sciam.bsky.social!

I've written to the Editor in Chief, named Akhyar Hanif. But a quick web search reveals that his name is associated with a bunch of other equally shady journals (mostly also connected to Indonesia). So who knows what will comes of it.
