We are hiring a postdoc to work on extreme temperatures in a changing climate. Scope is broad, with flexibility for the successful candidate to work on questions aligned with their interests and experience. Please share!
(2) land is warming faster than oceans, so the temperature-controlled saturation humidity outpaces increases in absolute humidity (set by ocean warming). (1) and (2) combined implies a decrease in land RH as climate warms, as we see in models and increasingly in obs/reanalysis 2/2
hi @leonsimons.bsky.social@cristiproist.bsky.social for the highlighting our work on this. We think land relative humidity is decreasing because: (1) land absolute humidity is controlled by advection from the oceans, and hence increases in step with ocean warming 1/2
