How much of this is typical lobbying consideration, and how much is that political spending is so unregulated that it’s a good vehicle for money laundering?
It is equally valid and true to say “The Union is demanding that these jobs not simply vanish, leaving the people who hold them unemployed.” But yes, it’s inefficient.

I’m watching Florida. Even a Republican kakistocracy like that doesn’t have an easy path back to “jklol we never meant to enforce immigration law against employers” they might manage to go back, but if they cannot get an “Oops laws are for thee and not for me” bill passed, it will get interesting.
