Anyone who has ever read "AI"-generated text to try and consider its actual quality - much less its ability to cite sources, identify basic reality, or describe things without plagiarism - knows exactly how terrible a plan this is.
Early career scholars are stunningly good and frequently have the equivalent of a tenure file when they get hired TT. I mean, even in my time at UT, the bar for promotion keeps getting raised. The idea that academic departments have declined thanks to DEI is absurd.

The thing is ... everyone has ancestors who did really shitty things, and others who did noble things, and the range in the middle. It doesn't remove your agency over your own life But it is telling when you align yourself with the worst of the shitty ones, as an indication of who you choose to be
