One side of me thinks that why haven't I read it before, as it could have helped me in my life and career, and another side if I was really ready to take the advice in this book back then. Ot comes at a good time in my life when I feel I can take the most advantage from it.
Started reading 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by S. R. Covey. Heard about it before, but thought it was a typical self-help book: get up early, manage time wisely, etc. And it is really not about that at all. It is about building up a character that good habits come as a by-product.
That's what I ended up doing. I don't need full Linux, just repeated NeoVim config in WSL2 Ubuntu and it seems working quite well. So I'm happy how it turned out. Thanks, Frank.
I have no issues with Windows for just browsing, playing games, doing some accounting ms office work etc. It's just the dev work that I can't do in powershell. Basic file system operations in Windows command prompt are a pure torture. I need my *nix shell for this.
Going ahead with only Lunux brings back old traumas, where everything will work 99%, but this 1% that doesn't work would drive me nuts. This was happening without a fault for the past 20 years, doesn't matter which distribution I tried for Linux workstation.
Got a Windows laptop, after MBP. All good, but looking at command prompt makes me want to cry. So options: wipe out W11 and install Fedora 38, dual boot, W11 as host + hyperv with F38, or W11 + WSL just for command prompt. Anyone has advice? Laptop is Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 11.
