To give a hypothetical private sector example: you call in and say “I have a problem with the sandals that were delivered”, and the rep says “I’m sorry to hear that you have an issue with the footwear you received”. Drives people batty!

I always wonder about this. I see it too in proposals, where it feels like people bust out the thesaurus to avoid simply using the RFP’s words. Like did all the English lessons about needing to put things in your own words sink in the wrong way?
