Council is revisiting the request by Van Mar to have an earlier start time (6am instead of the usual 7am). It had been deferred waiting on engagement with the public. Davey thinks it will be obvious the engagement would oppose the request, so he doesn't want it deferred it any longer.
Cllr Schnider's motion passes unanimously. And that's it for that topic. Moving on as there are still a couple more items.
Vrbanovic says the results are very clear with the number of visits to the CTS and no overdose deaths, "It doesn't need to be any clearer than that for me."
Cllr Deneault outlines six different decisions the province has reversed course on because of public pushback. he hopes this will be another one.
Singh says "It's not about jurisdiction, but it's a reminder that your fight doesn't end here. You have to connect with your regional councillors and your MPP as well."
He says to some degree, it feels like people are screaming into the void (since city council can't make the final decision) and "as long as we're encouraging people to scream into the void, we're being complicit in the apathy people have today." He is going to support the motion though.
