Rollo the Walker (c.840-933) Also known as Rolf and baptized as Robert I, was the first norse ruler of Normandy from c.911 until c. 928. He was invited alongside his men to settle around Rouen by Charles the Simple as a way to protect the frankish coast from other viking raids
