Donald Trump: I plan to use military force to oppose any dissent, within the borders of the United States. NPR: Here is how we can peacefully talk to people trying to kill you.

I read this story a few years ago and it still sticks with me. "Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief. Do good, now. Walk justly, now. No one is expected to complete the work but neither may one desist from it." -Rabbi Tarfon, Ethics of the Fathers. Carpathia did that, and some.

No one asked the passengers to give up their belongings or their berths. Every single person aboard the Carpathia contributed in some way towards the rescue, no matter how small. A group of total strangers, united for an unlikely rescue mission, determined to beat the odds, did their very best.

Since they did not save all the passengers, Carpathia technically failed in its mission. But that's not important here. What matters is they never gave up, despite the stacked odds. No one expected them to get there in just over 3 hours and they would not have faulted them for taking the slower path

They arrived at the Titanic's last known location just 3 hours after they received the distress signal. It was nothing short of a miracle given the circumstances and the limitations of the ship. By 8:30 AM the last rescue was pulled on board. Carpathia rescued 705 out of the original 2200 passengers

Carpathia races across the Atlantic Ocean at a speed of 17 knots per hour. Carpathia's engines were rated for 14 knots, max. They had their own issues with icebergs just like the Titanic. Carpathia carved a path through that ice field because every second mattered to them.

By the time Captain Rostron diverted all power from the ship to the engines, the passengers were up and about. They all offered what they could to help the rescue efforts. Because all steam power was cut from the ship, they did not have hot water or central heating, except in the dining areas.

Captain Rostron then diverted all steam power from the ship to the engines. He was determined to break the laws of physics in order to get to the Titanic. The dining areas of the ship were converted into temporary hospitals for the Titanic passengers.

The captain ordered life boats to be swung out and ready. Lights, nets, and ladders were assembled along the sides of the ship, along with oil containers that would be poured into the ocean if the waters were choppy. Within the first hour, all of Carpathia's crew was awake and in ready status.

Because a dozen books written by dudes before the internet and penicillin, that can be edited/interpreted by dudes, are used as a "moral" compass. The haters are closeted and are afraid of their own sexuality, so they bash the LGBTQ/Furry population.
