For those in the audience that don't know, I was a chemist for 10 years before I changed roles as a software engineer in our engineering department based on my tinkerings. Evil company, but good people.
Don't get me wrong, I loved research, but it turns out I like helping other people do research more. Took me only 15 years into my education + career to figure that out.
One of the supervisors at work liked my idea for e-paper signs for the labs with up-to-date chemical storage volumes and hazards, so they passed it on to their boss 😊
