Biodiversity credits could unlock new funding for nature restoration. But if this happens without consideration of Indigenous data sovereignty, it could create a new form of colonialism.
In our new explainer series, Watt Now?, we argue for electrification for humans, which includes: 💡 Cheaper energy, cheaper living. 💡 Cleaner energy, healthier people. 💡 More ownership, more mana. 💡 More distribution, more resilience. EnergySky GreenSky ClimateSky www.rewiring.nz/watt-now/peo...
People sometimes talk about ‘carbon tunnel vision’ – that is, the single-minded pursuit of emission reductions at the sake of everything else. But this is the wrong way to think about electrification....
Carbon tunnel vision is a real problem. It is the single-minded pursuit of emission reductions at the sake of everything else. But this is exactly the 🛑 WRONG WAY 🛑 to think about electrification. Electrification is about so much more... www.sei.org/perspectives...

Some of the failures to persuade certain constituencies, & to turn acceptance into action, can be explained by failures to engage pathos (which is what I argued in paper above). But appeals to emotion need not be manipulative - actually I'd argue there are practical & ethical reasons to be sincere.
