Every time I take Amtrak somewhere it hits me all over again how I would never take another fucking plane to 90% of the places I ever go if rail was only a bit faster, and I don’t think I’m alone
I think the last time I flew anywhere was when my employer two jobs ago sent me to Utah to train a satellite office. I either drive or (in winter) take Amtrak up the coast.
I would dearly love a high-speed rail option for getting to my parents in Oklahoma.
I really wanted to take a train back home for the holidays. I have a schedule where I only need to be somewhere Monday and Tuesday but the travel time would've eaten three days and been as expensive as the plane flight. I'm so sad rail was derailed in the US.
I don't think much travel is in my future, but Amtrak suited me so much better than flying, and with less stress
Try the French TGV. You would never fly short-haul again.
Amtrak: The cost of flying combined with the speed of driving. Yet it’s *still* almost worth it.
Literally the only reason I fly anywhere on the eastern seaboard anymore is speed and even then when you factor in time spent at the airport it isn’t THAT much faster Plus trains generally don’t get, like. Randomly canceled
Oh very, definitely not alone Oh very, definitely not alone
Taking a train down the eastern seaboard was magical. Avoiding airport traffic and delays and bs was incredibly pleasant.
