Thanks. Perhaps they are thinking of a M~7 shallow crustal earthquake not being as bad as the offshore M9 subduction earthquake (the big one). See a description of the 3 types of earthquakes in southwest BC (also applies to WA, OR and northern CA): www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/pprs-pprp/pu...
Thanks - yes. Even if you are right above the earthquake, it is still 60 km away from you!
Like last week, I slept through this earthquake!
Were you rudely awakened by ground shaking early this morning (02:08 PT)? That was a deep M3.8 #earthquake#Vancouverwww.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/recent/2024/...
Thanks. I slept through it near Victoria....
Did you feel shaking early this morning (04:05 PT)? ⚒️🧪 That was a M3.8 #earthquake#Victoria#Vancouver#WAwww.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/recent/2024/...
Fantastic! Thanks for this list!
Aftershocks continue following Sunday's M6.5 #earthquake off the coast of British Columbia. Hundreds of small aftershocks recorded, including two dozen in the M3-4.8 range. No damage and not so rare... about every 3-5 years a M6.5+ earthquake occurs off the coast. ⚒️🧪
