When a supporter asked Trump a prescreened question about addressing inflation, he offered a lengthy answer. Since voters are so concerned about policy positions, I simply printed it in full. Hope itā€™s illuminating. Gift link: wapo.st/4eK0Zym

During Donald Trumpā€™s town hall in Pennsylvania, an attendee asked about grocery bills and inflation. Here is Trumpā€™s response in its entirety.

"Western Civilization" is a complicated and problematic construct in many ways...but if there are any features of it that even conservatives might agree are central to it--a concern for truth and valuing the golden rule are pretty non-negotiable tenets of it. bsky.app/profile/seth...

According to my research, the answer is, "because many executives are narcissistic clowns who see themselves as gods and so make decisions based on their warped emotional needs rather than on data and reason." (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2024/10/12/b...

New: Major newspapers are giving Trumpā€™s federal criminal indictment a fraction of the coverage they gave former Secretary of State Hillary Clintonā€™s use of a private email server in 2016 www.mediamatters.org/new-york-tim...

Image is of a chart.

Media Matters reviewed print coverage in five newspapers ā€” Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post ā€” for stories mentioning Trumpā€™s indictment in the week following U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkanā€™s October 2 unsealing of special counsel Jack Smithā€™s latest filing, which reveals damning new evidence of the former presidentā€™s alleged crimes.

We found the papers ran 26 combined articles mentioning Trumpā€™s indictment in the week after the unsealing of Smithā€™s filing. But those same papers published 100 combined articles ā€” nearly 4 times as many ā€” that mentioned Clintonā€™s server in the week after then-FBI Director James Comeyā€™s notorious October 28, 2016, letter on new developments in that probe, as we documented in a 2016 study.
