No it's basically the same as hitting mobs to get first turn as with the other Persona games, only you can kill weak ones on the field with it so you don't bother having to go into actual combat, like running things over with the catbus in 5.

The last installment with the open world stuff seem to have been a flop so I guess they're trying new things but veering away from previous formula feels a mistake to begin with, as even if repetitive it was *fun*.
New Sangoku Musou game, Origins, appears to feature an amnesiac original protagonist and the actual Three Kingdoms characters are mostly NPCs that they hang out with, which seems to defeat the entire purpose of the series but maybe they're trying to get isekai fans or something.
Also you can pet the cat, which is of course the most important factor.
