Me and my tule toy boat (with a real full size one in the background)💦🩵 Thanks to the #Ohlone community for the tutorial!

I'm holding a small toy boat made from "tule", a thick reed that grows in marshes.

Numerous locations in the western United States, extending from the San Francisco Bay Area in California to the Front Range of Colorado, are currently experiencing their hottest temperatures on record for any October date. #CAwx#AZwx#COwx

A map showing locations currently exceeding daily Oct 2 and also all-time October monthly temperature records across the U.S. There are numerous such locations, denoted as red and pink dots on the map, respectively, currently apparent.

I helped turn sticks into walls! The harvested tule is dry so we started the process of weaving twine around bundles of reeds to form mats which we will later form into a replica Ohlone dwelling to help in our education program. It's a lot of work but really puts you into contact with the land.

This squirrel HAS A PLAN! Unlike some nut-less parties I shall not name. #pleasevote#prettyplease

A squirrel uses its awesome physical dexterity to reach from a tree trunk with its feet to a bird feeder with its paws to chow down on the yummy seeds.

BEE good and do a good deed today! Or at least enjoy this busy bumble.

A plump bumblebee right in the middle of a flower, busy collecting pollen or nectar, I forget which. Maybe they collect the nectar and the plant covers them with pollen?

Wow! A house centipede! Scutigera coleoptrata. Or something from the original D&D Monster Manual?

A somewhat spider like insect with about 30 legs. Yowza! And long feelers up front. It is on a wall near the ceiling.

Hi there cute rock monster

A big sandstone rock has three naturally carved holes that look like funny eyes and a mouth. Nature rocks!

Phaneroptera nana: like me, its ancestors were not from here (North America). Unlike me, it can pose upside down grasping a vertical wall. #invertifest

I do like my rock and mineral collection.

I have my rock and mineral specimens on a shelf. I just washed them off so they are not dusty. They smell nice after their wash.
