USGBC’s Portfolio Accelerator aims to solve ESG’s biggest problem: net-zero commitments and other promises that lack realistic implementation plans. But the emerging program is nothing like LEED.
In 2023, we should not be awarding the highest accolades to new buildings where no attempt has been made to mitigate upfront and end of life emissions. Especially where such buildings may also involve land use change loss of biodiversity, etc...they shouldn't even receive planning permission imo.
