I’ve been saying for 20 years that the end goal of the gun lobby is to make mass shootings so normal that we would treat them like severe weather (just a bad thing that happens, nothing can be done to prevent it, just stay inside) but I never expected the metaphor to be this literal.

I’m going to mull this over but so far it’s tracking correctly. Thanks for this different point of view.

Not so fun fact: Reprogramming these signs generally involves actually going physically to the sign and opening an access panel. Likely meaning, that, with a mass shooter in the area, they sent some poor yob to go set the sign placed completely in the open, to ask people to shelter.

I watched a gentleman on Tiktok (I know) talk about how we need to force the Overton window back on this issue by responding to mass shootings by discussing which gun executive's house we're going to burn down after each one. Illegal, sure. But effective? Maybe.

This is just taking what we have schools do and applying it to everyone else. The fact that kids being murdered can't trump gun nuts... not a lot of hope in things changing.

As someone who lives in England, I still find it amazing that no one can defeat the gun lobby to fix this disaster.
