When I was in grad school James Earl Jones came to campus and gave a 90 minute talk about the civil rights movement and the first audience question was from a little girl who asked “are you really the lion King?” and he took his glasses off and said “Simbaaaaa” and everyone totally lost their shit.
Awww. Makes me think of him in “Field of Dreams” saying: “Peace, love, dope! Get the hell outta here!”
This is a great story.
“No apologies offered or accepted.” James Earl Jones Best of the Best.
I was there for that - I've been thinking about that over the last few days also.
I saw him in "You Can't Take It With You" on Broadway and his character has a line in the play that literally ends with "dark side" and... yeah.
[6'5", 200+ pounds, 60+, Veteran, Westerner:] I am so that little girl.
Great story 😄
a true king!
The People King
I once saw Charlton Heston speak at a college. He was stiff and stern while giving his NRA spiel, but in the Q&A all anyone wanted to talk about was Planet of the Apes. He loosened up, smiled, and spent the rest of the time telling funny hollywood stories.
