Been wracking my brain on what other place I could have read that in with sourcing I "trust", but the only ones I can think of are Gamble's Rabaul series, the Letourneau's Operation KE or less likely Shores' Burma books or Hata's IJAA Aces. More likely I'm just an idiot and am remembering wrong.

I mean I've been reading the Clairinbold/Ingman series, whose Japanese sources seem top notch and serviceability hasn't really been doubted much, but the IJAA just showed in Ki-43s.

I'm going off memory so it's entirely possible the error is mine. I don't even have a copy currently. Sorry if I'm conflating it with another source or another section of the book.

this his posited was why Ki-61 serviceability rates were so low, despite being a decent aircraft.

On the Japanese side he talked about how every engine was hand made for that aircraft so easily overhauling them and switching them between airframes was difficult as opposed to the R-2800, which in comparison was plug and play.

The thing I love about Fire in the Sky is the long tangent on aircraft engine development, does that part stand up? I loved it for that alone, but even narratively, the book is a mess.

I know it doesn't have the history, but Washington/Oregon makes up for it in vitriol.

I feel a little lonely here because the pornbots don't like my three year old posts randomly.

The Milwaukee Brewers are a very confusing team.
