I think this smacks of being something conjured up by one of those well-meaning people with a Classics degree who’ve done ok, but would probably have been fine anyway (i.e. mistaking classics for the reason why that was the case).

Cultural capital is a scam. It's an excuse to exclude, not a reason to include. The old boys network is for Pele who went to school *together* and won't admit people to privilege on any form of education.

Some Newham 6th form 'providers' have form. Highly selective: top top marks pupils, excluding others to hothouse fr Oxbridge, & medical degrees. GCSE results day 2021 (Brampton Manor) made pupils queue all day & those failing to get even 1 grade of their offer, fr whatever reason rudely turned away.
