Congrats to JKR, for successfully alienating an entire generation who she was once considered the primary author for in Britain. That takes some doing.
Telling that more over 65s like jk herself rather than the books or films
I was talking to my now grown up daughter about this (diehard Potter fan from aged 5 to well, since Rowling started tweeting) and while she won't let it tarnish her magical memories, she can't stand what she calls "abusing feminism as an excuse to express extreme prejudice towards a minority group"
"What's amazing is that JK Rowling raised a generation of us to be tolerant" --Twitter
The kids are alright.
GenX still needs to be kicked harder, though.
Hope that most of those still into HP stuff are at least sensible enough to pirate it instead of giving her money
In fairness the books were written before that age group was reading them (Deathly Hallows 2007) and even the films finished in 2011 when someone who is 25 now would have just been old enough to start watching them. Her primary generation remains quite loyal (sadly)
In fairness, a lot of far more respected authors have also been truly awful people.
I suspect that left to herself she'd have completely disappeared under her own swill, but so much corporate energy has gone into making those vapid books a forever cash cow like star wars. I'm around kids all day and none of them give a shit, which is bad if you have a whole theme park
