It's so wild that there are people who can identify cars by sight. Like instead of “brown truck” or “grey sedan” everywhere they go they’re all “that Mazda Myopia is turning left beside the 2017 Chevy Stigmata”. It must be like seeing those colors only shrimp can see.
I knew someone in HS who could, at night, identify any car from its brake lights
If it has been more than 5 seconds since I saw the car, there is almost no chance I'm even going to remember the color.
I can do this. I guess I was at the back of the queue when they were giving out superpowers. 🤦♂️
had that for a while, dunno why. i always reacted intensely to cars, the first ones i saw looked like animals🤷🏼♀️ 40s/50s
learning new things is like having magic glasses. suddenly instead of pavement weeds i'm seeing bladderwort, vetch and vervain everywhere. I'm still carblind though, like i'm only 40% sure my partner's is grey and i get in it most days
"But what they don't have is a word meaning 'rock'. Show a dwarf a rock and he sees, for example, an inferior piece of crystalline sulphite of barytes." -- Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad
The name is written on them.
Fwiw people have used brain scan tech like fMRI and claim that the sections of the brain that are active when car nuts are recognizing cars are conterminous with face recognition.
I had a Mazda Myopia for a while but it was a complete bitch to park…
