I'd say because it's still the youngest entertainment medium. Gaming wasn't a thing, or wasn't accessible or mainstream, until the last decade or so. I love games but it hadn't had a generation or two of history to cement itself in popular culture.
The stories in games are often unlike stories in other mediums because of the interactivity. That and the feeling of "mastering" a games system is always satisfying. It's like getting good a chess but there's hundreds of variations of chess to get good at, & new ones all the time.

Anyone who tells themselves it's about features is just confused. It's about people, about networks, about community. This place will become increasingly appealing to a broader range of Twitter users as the inordinate emphasis on anglo media guy stuff decreases! Slow but steady
But hey, imma keep push and we all should! Twitter will die and the migration will complete, but we gotta continue to recommend this place because there's a not-in significant amount of people trying out Threads, and we CAN'T let IG, FB and the new Twitter all be under one corporation.
I literally feel this exact same way. Though, I would argue that most people who claimed video is what'll make them switch have long since accepted they're actually never switch unless they're forced to. Even when pinned posts & group DMs come, they're getting on the last life boat out.
