It's a shame that anti-normalization has gained so much traction that these groups, along with the families of hostages, have in many cases not been considered natural allies to end these wars. They are perhaps the best positioned to make a difference if they had more allies.

Voices Against War:

Tonight in Jerusalem: protest against a war in Lebanon and the genocide in Gaza. Police violently dispersed the demo, stealing signs and using extreme force

Sincere question -- is this a critique of Palestinian and other officials in the area or a critique of western protest/anti-war movements, or of western officials (eg. Jayapal, Talib) I could see all three, but I react to each variation a little differently

I'm sympathetic to this argument, and I admire what remains of the anti-war left in Israel, but what would it mean in practice for Western leftists to ally with these groups? For my part, I see absolutely no way of influencing internal Israeli politics from outside.

I'm not sure the statement is entirely accurate. When I was in IL, the Jerusalem radical group was involved in several international direct actions. However, it's been tough to work alongside the hostages' family organizations, where there was a lot of anger against signs like the one in the photo
