Celebrate Black heroes of aviation for #BlackHistoryMonth!

Willa Brown and Cornelius Coffey owned and operated the Coffey School of Aeronautics in Chicago. They trained more than 1000 Black aviators, many of whom became members of the Tuskegee airmen.
Katherine Johnson was a mathematician at NASA, responsible for many of the calculations needed for orbital flight. When John Glenn wouldn’t trust the computers’ calculations, he said, “If [Katherine] says they’re good, then I’m ready to go.”
Not only was Charles McGee one of the Tuskegee Airmen in WW2, he also served in Korea and Vietnam with more than 400 combat missions. He eventually rose to the rank of Brigadier General. He died in 2022 at the age of 102.
