Y’know, it’s interesting (I happen to have been rereading) that Galadriel knows Gandalf has defeated the Balrog, and thus sends Gwaihir to look for him. Presumably she senses that Nenya is back on line or something (or there’s an explanation in Appendix W), but it’s yet another sign of her power.
