Sure you could take the obvious road and pick the sparkly mineral. But how about fighting for the underdog! It might not glitter but it does look EXACTLY LIKE HAM! Vote Rhodochrosite, the Forbidden Bacon, to win the Mineral Cup! www.mineralcup.org/2024/vote/r5m1#mincup24

A four-panel photo series of rhodochrosite. Two looks exactly like cross sections of round ham and two look *exactly* like slices of bacon.

I am once again reminding you that adding alt text to wall-of-text screencaps doesn't have to be a difficult thing. Copy-paste works on both iOS and Android phones (Android tablets are a different thing). Also there are shortcuts for iOS that can strip text from images. routinehub.co/shortcut/18370

Here's a list of real nature photographers posting their own work, who make their images accessible with Alt Text. I love that Bluesky values actual people and not those image stealing accounts. This is just to get you started, there are tons more great photographers here! 🌿 #birds 🧪

I normally do not take photos with people, but I loved the silhouettes so much. It's one of my favorite photos in Yosemite.

In the foreground are two people sitting on a rock silhouetted against a sky with threatening thunderheads. In the distance on the left is Half Dome, Clouds Rest, and the high Sierra. A pine branch reaches down from the left as if to hug Half Dome.

Years ago I was a member of Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) & helped with comms during local floods back in the days before cell service. I still live in mountains with regular power outages which can knock out cell towers. It's good to see HAMs are still helping with disaster comms. 💗

This lil hippo brings me so much joy. Even her dark side. 😍

So many acorns this year!

Wood deck covered in dozens of acorns, and the shadow of the oak tree.
