Hard to feel bad about a negative review when their primary complaint was an intentional design choice that I see as part of the whole point of the game. What a great example of "not every game is for every person."

My main qualm was how many of the choices I made (to improve my own score) ended up helping all the other players too. So if you're fine just killing time and don't mind a "competitive" game feeling cooperative, this might be up your alley. But I prefer competitive games to be actually competitive.

Also, it's way too easy to trigger the game end (intentionally or by happenstance), while not actually knowing who is winning as you go.

When people make comments that conflict so hard with the intentions of the game, I just smile blankly and nod until they’re done🙂🙂‍↕️ Some people would rather be right than understand why you might have made that design decision.

Not to mention that the strategic nuance involved in having to consider not only how your moves benefit yourself but also how they benefit others can still be a competitive feature if managed correctly...

If only there were some way to control the positioning of the mushrooms you place to improve how much they help you and make it inconvenient for your opponents. Or even place an unhelpful mushroom by an opponent's sapling to thwart them. Definitely no strategy in this game I guess...

Thank you (or AEG), whomever made the decision to have it on Board Game Arena well before release, even in alpha it helped me learn the game, teach friends and get people hype at work over it. Now that I have my gorgeous wood tile KS version, I am ready to go!

I've definitely thought about the fact that placing a high-scoring mushroom is an opportunity for my opponent as well. Such a nice conundrum

I remember people making the exact same complaint about Puerto Rico when it first came out. Or that it's solitaire (when, in fact, since nearly every choice you make helps everyone else, it's a brutally interactive game). Everyone has their own tastes..but this make me want to try the new game!

I'm assuming this is about Undergrove, which I *cannot wait* to play but is sadly still sitting on our table waiting to be opened during this, a much busier week than anticipated [sad face]
