saw some baby seagulls the other day, and a) it had somehow never occurred to me that seagulls did not merely burst out of hell fully formed and ready to choose violence at every opportunity, and b) i regret to admit that they’re actually quite cute as babies
all horrors start small
the stages of seeing a baby seagull 1) OMG cute 2) ...hold up, parent seagull is nearby, and will defend their baby 3) OMG cute (from a distance)
The first time it was pointed out to me that pigeons do so well in cities because it’s similar to their natural nesting ground I realized I had never considered 1. pigeon nests 2. pigeons in nature
As a tiny child I was walking on the boardwalk and a seagull swooped down and stole a pastry from my little hands. I was so upset then but now it’s a reminder of their nature.
I blame reading Jonathan Livingston Seagull as a child for my not hating seagulls the normal amount. Also they've yet to successfully steal my fries or ice cream, which seems like one of the major routes to hating them.
hard to believe they’re both real and cute
legit never occurred to me eitherlegit never occurred to me either
Like baby pigeons. Never see them as infants and total menace
the cutest. you should come by soon and check out the hummingbird nest in our backyard. the babies are ridiculous.
I saw 3 yesterday with an adult seagull on the edge of a hospital roof. First baby seagulls I've seen decades despite being no stranger to the coast.
