If you are an academic with a permanent position, you should also be incensed that this is what your precarious colleagues are facing. At a very minimum, REF needs to decide and publish rules around portability for precarious academics ASAP.

I have now heard several things that make it clear that lack of information regarding portability for (particularly) junior precarious scholars around REF is actively hurting people. REF is already a stick to beat junior scholars with - ESPECIALLY those in positions that do not include research.
