As someone who lived in Germany for a long time, learned German / European history, and also has taken extensive college level coursework on the topic, I couldn’t agree with this statement any more. Trump is the weird American photocopy of a European fascist dictator in training.
Godwin has told us that it's okay to play that card, now. But I get it. It's creepy and definitely a case of history rhyming, rather than repeating.
But also because this is the US, where stupidity is worshipped, it is the stupidest possible version of facism, which is already stupid as an ideology, but ours is even more so because we're exceptional.
