Just saw a post saying most published authors stop publishing after 3 books, and while that *can* be used as a "wow, those of us who make it past that are so resilient!" I think it *should* be used to acknowledge that most *already published* authors get chased out of publishing.

yeah. I feel this very hard myself, having lurched to a stop after three books because of poverty and hardship. There's been a lot of shame about that too
I stopped after 3. Interesting stat as most stop after 3 rather than after the first or second? I wonder what the reasons are for the magic number being 3?
Like it's bad enough that agents say less than 1% of their slush piles actually get offers. If we're saying less than 1% of aspiring authors even get as far as the agent stage, what does it mean when only 20% of those published stick around past 3 books? Is that an industry we should be proud of?
