A bit of hay has been spun about the name grand- elf to Gandalf since a certain episode was aired and what people don’t usually understand is that Tolkien is a MASSIVE name nerd. Know your old Norse and English, some Finnish etc and the whole lot of the book is filled with that. Gandir-Aelfir etc
