Opponents of Prop 33 say it will allow NIMBY cities like Huntington Beach (or Irvine, Riverside, West LA?) to create rent control that only targets new housing, hiking prices. If true, that would be bad for academic workers. Is that tradeoff to protect some aging tenants worth it?
