Failure to fund education in taxonomy could derail efforts to support conservation in low- and middle-income countries.
I’ve heard several versions of this same argument for decades, and they all (ironically!) suffer from misidentifying the problem. While there is a theoretical need for taxonomists on a societal level, no one wants to pay for them, so there are few jobs and many trained people leave the field.

One of my favorite inverts is this little glowworm larvae I found in my garden last year. It's so cool that glowworms emit a yellow, orange, or green light from their bodies using bioluminescence, not heat. Some species can even emit a red light from their head. #invertefest#GlitterGlitter
